Website Manager: Georgios Psarras Social event program The registration fee for the Conference covers the following social events:  Sun. 30/10/2011: Welcome Reception  Wed. 2/11/2011: Technical Tour to local organic and conventional olive orchards, olive oil mills and bottling  and packing units Thu. 3/11/2011: Gala Dinner  Optional Tours are offered for all participants at the following rates:  Pre-Conference Tour 1st option (1-day Tour): Knossos - Heraklion  Sun. 30-10-2011, 8:00 - 16:00.  Program: a) Guided tour to the largest Bronze Age archaeological site on  Crete. Knossos was the cultural and political centre of the Minoan  civilization, restored by the archaeologist Sir Arthur Evans during 1900 AD.  The palace is famous as "The Labyrinth" where King Minos kept the  notorious Minotaur.  b) Heraklion, the capital of the Region of Crete.  Cost: 45 Euros / person (Min. number of passengers: 18)  Pre-Conference Tour 2nd option (2-day Tour at the Eastern part of Crete):  Knossos - Heraklion - Lasithi  Sat. 29/10/2011, at 09:00 - Sun. 30/10/2011 at 17:00.  Program: Day 1: a) Guided tour at the famous Minoan Palace of Knossos,  built in 2500 BC. b) Visit the traditional village of Archanes for Lunch. c)  Transfer to the hotel in Heraklion. Free evening. Day 2: a) Visit Lasithi  plateau with the beautiful windmills. b) Visit the famous cave at Ida Mountain,  in which according to Mythology, God Zeus was born. c) Lunch at Tzemianto,  the most important village on the north side of Lasithi area. d) Return to  Chania via Mohou & Stilida.  Cost: 150 Euros / person  (Min. number of passengers: 25)
